5 years ago around this time, I knew I was going to give up alcohol and share my sobriety journey online.
5 years ago around this time, I was preparing, processing, and reflecting.
And, as I think about where I am at with my blog and social media, it feels like I haven’t done anything.
Maybe because I didn’t “succeed” with blogging.
Maybe because 5 years into content creation and sharing my journey online, I feel that by now I should have a huge following or be making money.
And 5 years later, I don’t have any of those things. No big following. Haven’t monetized. Nada.
But, then I think to myself why I am using social media metrics & online stuff to measure my growth?
My social media accounts and blog could never reflect the growth, lessons, and gifts I’ve gained and discovered the past 5 years.
5 years ago, I was about to embark on a journey of making 2 decisions that I had no idea were going to change my life. One giving up alcohol and the other sharing my journey publicly online.
Maybe from the outside it may seem like nothing has changed dramatically.
But, my internal world was changed.
And, for that I am grateful.
With all of that being said, in honor of me approaching 5 years of sobriety and sharing my journey openly online, I am in the process of creating a free guide helping those who want to create & share online but feel scared, doubtful, and/or overwhelmed.
This guide will have a glimpse of the challenges I went through as I shared my journey online and what helped me. The guide will include advice, tips, and questions for reflection with the goal of helping those finally take the 1st step to post or to just post more confidently.
Guys!!! I don’t know how I am going to figure out how to place this on my website as a freebie for those to download but Ima figure it out and I hope for it to be ready by or around September 12th of this year which is my 34th birthday and my 5 year soberversary! I am not sure what is it about 1, 5, 10, etc year milestones that makes one reflect on how far we’ve come along.
